Job Title: Junior Paralegal
Reporting to: Partners, Solicitor and Office Manager
Location: Manchester
Pay: £20,000 (depending on experience)

 An exciting opportunity has arisen at our friendly Manchester office for a Junior Paralegal to join our hard working and committed support team at PCS.  Although this is a support role, we are proud of our track record career progression at PCS and many members of our support team members have progressed into more senior admin roles and fee earning roles.

1. Job Purpose:

1.1 To assist Partners and Fee-Earners of the practice

1.2 Conduct a variety of tasks to include general administrative tasks and support, answering the telephone, filing, printing, scanning and binding, photocopying, research, drafting correspondence, drafting wills, letter of wishes, trust documents, Lasting Powers of Attorney and all associated documents, assisting with probate administration and the preparation of Estate Accounts.

2. Responsibilities and Duties:

2.1 To work as part of the team to assist with providing private client services, undertaking fee-earning work and time recording accordingly. To deliver a high quality service to clients, dealing with them on the telephone and face-to-face in client meetings.

2.2 Responsibility, under supervision, for assisting others within the practice with their matters as detailed above in paragraph 1.

2.3 Preparation of correspondence and drafting wills and trust documents (with support) from precedents, in compliance with PCS’s house style guide.

2.4 Proof reading, fact checking, and the ability to send confidential documents to clients and others unsupervised.

2.5 To learn and adhere to the firm’s systems (to include use of PCS’ case management system), and the requirements of third party referrers.

2.6 To assist with the development of our case management system.

2.7 Data inputting and basic accounting transactions following the provision of training on the firm’s accounts package and systems detailed above.

2.8 Case management and dealing with incoming emails.

2.9 Arranging appointments, taking messages, receiving and delivering documents.

2.10 Open and close files in Leap case management system.

2.11 Attend department meetings and such internal or external training courses as required.

3. Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:

3.1 Previous legal work experience or academic knowledge required. Private client services experience is desirable although not essential.

3.2 A commitment to excellent client care and enthusiasm for private client work.

3.3 Excellent IT skills particularly with experience in Word, Excel and Outlook.

3.4 Ability to communicate well orally and in writing, including dealing directly with clients when required.

3.5 Attention to detail.

3.6 Exceptional organisational skills.

3.7 Strong team working ethic.

3.8 Effective administrative skills.

3.9 Accurate and efficient time recording skills.

3.10 Able to identify problems, complaints and risk management.

3.11 Experience in a case management system desirable, but full training will be given.
